These vintage creations are the work of "SchubLaden" (meaning ´drawers´ in german), a unique shop in the Berlin-Kreuzberg´s Graefedistrict. It is devoted to the reuse and recycling of unmated drawers.
Designer at schubLaden, Franziska Wodicka designs unique, beautiful furniture, each piece with it‘s own story, signed and numbered. The bodies are mostly made out of varnished or oiled MDF boards or if the drawer allows, out of oiled solid wood.
These beautiful creations somehow piece together old draws, each with their own style, colour and size. One would think that combining so many differing elements would lead to a mishmash of styles, however the black/white base units provide the perfect back drop to highlight the best elements of each draw. This work provides a great inspiration for recycling furniture. Creativity, hard word and an eye for that perfect piece have enabled SchubLaden to produce furniture to a great standard, from old cupboards and draws that in their original form would have most likely been thrown away.
